FBCSH Discipleship Pathway

Matthew 28:18-20 delivers for the Christian what we call the "great commission." Jesus has commanded that we as Christians are to be busy making disciples. We do this will of Jesus' authority behind us. We are to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ as God draws people to Himself through the Holy Spirit. We are then given the command to teach others to grow in biblical truth. All through 1 Thessalonians we are given the importance of doing one another ministry. In Hebrews 10:25-26 we are not to neglect each other. Rather we are to stir one another to love and good works. Ephesians 2:10 we are God's workmanship created for the purpose of fulfilling God's purpose and plan.

To follow in obedience to this commission and command given to us we at FBCSH have a desire for a culture of discipleship. To accomplish this we have set up a discipleship pathway for Christians to lead other Christians through. It is a one - on - one, lifelong  journey that a discipler and disciplee take together. Along this journey the desire is that the disciplee becomes a discipler and meets less frequently with their discipler in order to work with their own disciplee. It is a wonderful and beautiful thing to be a part of growing God's kingdom.

Beginning the Race
This part of your discipleship journey entails meeting weekly together as discipleship partners to encourage one another in spiritual growth. As a discipler, your goal is to lead your disciplee through the foundational building blocks of the Christian life. For the disciplee, the purpose for this part of the journey is to prepare you for the lifelong journey of the Christian life you now have in Christ. The goal is for your discipler to study biblical truth with you and provide a strong biblical foundation for the rest of your life and service to God.

Setting the Pace
At this point of your discipleship journey you are ready to be digging deeper into God's Word. By the time you finish this part of your journey you will be meeting bi-weekly. It is hear that you will together strengthen your Bible reading, prayer life, and witness with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Keeping the Pace
In this part of your journey you have learned much and are now in a place to invest your life in discipling another person. You still meet periodically with your discipleship partner from before to pray, check up on each other and discuss a Christian life book.
